ttc.ng (Trying To Conceive) was built as a safe, supportive digital space where women and couples navigating fertility challenges could connect, share experiences, and find expert guidance. As a community manager and strategist, my role centered on growing, engaging, and nurturing this niche but highly active online tribe.
🎯 Purpose-Driven Community Building
The mission was clear: to create a trusted, non-judgmental support system for women trying to conceive in Nigeria—a topic often surrounded by cultural stigma and isolation.
From the ground up, the platform was designed to:
Offer evidence-based advice through partnerships with doctors, fertility experts, and nutritionists.
Facilitate peer-to-peer support, helping members feel seen and heard.
Encourage emotional wellness, by letting women share wins, setbacks, and encouragement freely.
🛠️ Strategy in Action:
1. Platform Optimization
We created an intuitive forum-like interface with topic threads on ovulation tracking, IVF, nutrition, personal stories, and local fertility clinics.
User journeys were optimized to help first-timers register, find relevant threads, and join conversations without friction.
2. Content That Resonates
We used local insights to shape content and tone—ensuring empathy, cultural sensitivity, and relevance. From real-life testimonials to doctor Q&As and fertility-friendly meal plans, everything was grounded in what the community cared about most.
3. Active Moderation & Safety
Given the sensitive nature of the topic, moderation was key. We maintained a zero-tolerance policy on trolling or misinformation, ensuring the community remained a psychologically safe space.
4. Organic Growth Through Trust
Word-of-mouth became our most powerful growth tool. Women invited friends, relatives, and even their spouses to join. The platform quickly grew into a tight-knit support circle.
